About Carlos Otermin
Founder Bio
Carlos Otermin is the founder of Oter Capital and an operator-turned investor focused on consumer businesses in emerging markets.
He spent over a decade building and leading technology companies across Southeast Asia. As COO of Lazada Philippines — part of Lazada Group, Southeast Asia's leading ecommerce platform acquired by Alibaba — he led operations, growth, and cross-functional teams through a period of rapid regional expansion.
Beyond Lazada, Carlos has co-founded and backed multiple ventures across the Philippines, Spain, and Southeast Asia, including Buko Ventures (a pre-seed fund for Filipino startups) and Disco Datu (a Web3 DAO active in the metaverse). He is a co-founder of CommonSense Finance and an LP and partner in funds including Kfund, Sketchnote Partners, Orvel, and Faeda Ventures.
He has lived and worked across Asia, Europe, and the Americas, and brings a genuinely global perspective to the specific realities of building in emerging markets.
Carlos founded Oter Capital to do for early-stage founders what he wished existed when he was building: a partner with real operating experience, regional relationships, and the patience to stay useful long after the first meeting.
